MA CENTRE

Established in 2018, the M.A. Centre UK is a charity which aims to serve and contribute to the local community by offering spiritual, ecological, educational and wellbeing programmes.

WHO WE ARE

We are a branch of the M.A. Math, founded by globally recognised humanitarian and spiritual leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi, known around the world as “Amma”.

The organisation supports humanitarian activities in India and the wider international community. We run a network of charitable projects under the banner Embracing the World.

In addition to local activities, the M.A. Centre UK also provides a base from which disaster relief and fundraising efforts can be run when needed, providing financial support for charitable initiatives in the UK and overseas.

COMMUNITY

Events are run throughout the year to support the various communities who benefit from the M.A. Centre.

Consultation Sessions – Hosted by M.A. Centre and conducted by the Bromley Police force, these consultation sessions serve as an opportunity to listen to the local community’s concerns.

Musical Concerts – We promote cultural events by conducting musical concerts performed by professional musicians.

Christmas Bazaar – We host and help organise the Christmas Bazaar which has stalls from various local groups such as small businesses selling homemade items and charities selling products to raise money for various causes.

WELLBEING

We run meditation and yoga workshops throughout the year to promote mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as community support in times of need.

IAM courses – We offer courses on the Integrated Amrita Meditation (IAM) Technique, both the shorter IAM20 and the longer IAM35. A typical course takes between 3 hours to a full day. Anyone is welcome to attend these courses. We also conduct IAM courses for organisations such as the Met police.

Befriending – A telephone support service was offered during Covid-19 lockdowns to support isolated and vulnerable people across the UK.

Yoga – yoga classes in the Amrita Hall are available.

SPIRITUAL

Open to all, our spiritual events and programmes bring together the local and wider Amma UK community in love and service.

Sadhana Day – A day dedicated to Seva (selfless service) and Satsang (Spiritual Gathering). This usually happens on the first Saturday of every month.

Swami Shubamritananda’s satsang – About 3-4 times a year, we have an evening Satsang conducted by Amma’s disciple, Swami Shubamritananda Puri. The programme includes a spiritual talk, guided meditation, and devotional singing.

Mahashivaratri – An annual festival in February; various devotees come together to celebrate the Mahashivaratri festival, staying awake through the night chanting, singing, listening to teachings, and music by various professional musicians.

Homas – A homa is a fire ceremony and a very powerful and meditative form of worship. Homas create powerful spiritual vibrations and surround us with positive energy which can bring peace of mind as well as material progress.
